In 2015, AEF completed a three year fundraising Technology Initiative that raised $190,000 and accelerated technology implementation at the Ottoson Middle School and Arlington High School.
Here’s a short video highlighting AEF Grants in Action during the 2016-2017 school year.
AEF will make four kinds of grants to support the Arlington Public Schools.
District Investment Grants will be awarded over a multi-year time period to support systemic long-term change in the Arlington Public Schools. These grants will focus on multi-pronged initiatives that have significant potential to improve learning and develop a strong, supportive community for students at the elementary, middle, or high school level, and cannot currently be supported by the tax-funded school budget. These grants are by invitation only, and will be developed through discussions with Arlington Public Schools principals and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
Development and Expansion Grants will be awarded to support the development of new educational strategies that target demonstrated need and have the potential to serve as models for the rest of the district. Development and Expansion Grants may be school-based or district-wide. Arlington Public Schools teachers and administrators may apply for these grants, though we encourage proposals that involve local strategic partners. All funded proposals will require the support and approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
Innovation in Education Grants will be awarded to support innovative teaching and learning projects in the Arlington Public Schools. Arlington teachers, administrators, parents, or community members may apply for these grants (non-school-based applicants must be partnered with the Arlington Public Schools). Application deadlines are November 15 and April 15.
Continuing Scholar Awards will be awarded to Arlington educators to support education experiences that will in turn benefit their students. The Award will fund seminars, courses, workshops, trips, or expeditions sponsored by universities, schools, institutes, or professional development organizations. Any full-time Arlington Public Schools educator who will be returning to the Arlington Public Schools the following year is eligible to apply. Application deadlines are October 15 and April 1.
